Principal

Carlton Poll Shorthorn Stud is owned by Lyn and John Nitschke. 
Lyn Nitschke is also the Stud Principal. Lyn has many years of cattle experience and a love of Poll Shorthorn cattle in particular. She grew up on a commercial cattle station in Western New South Wales that ran all Shorthorns and developed her own herd as a young woman that formed the basis of the current stud. When she married John and moved to South Australia, she brought her best cows with her to continue to develop the genetic pool.

Over the years, Lyn has been increasingly active in the Shorthorn Stud industry and became the first female president elected to the South Australian Shorthorn Breeders Association.

Lyn has a passion for the Poll Shorthorn breed and her cattle and has encouraged and supported many cattle enthusiasts to establish their own studs.
